Robby Cantarutti, born on 17 June 1966, is an Italian architect and industrial designer from Venice. He is known for following Italian Rationalism. Many of his projects are based in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. One of his most notable works is the “Cabin at the River,” where he lives with his family. Inspired by Bauhaus and Le Corbusier, Robby Cantarutti moved beyond mainstream Rationalism into an organic style using natural materials. His work, especially the Cabin at the River, was featured in Silvia Zeitlinger’s film and won the Green LEAF Award in 2015 for best single house architecture; it has also been used by brands like Illy and Knoll for promotional filming. Cantarutti’s industrial design is sold and distributed worldwide. This is done through two companies, Vibia and Fast. Cantarutti’s architectural projects are mainly based in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. He has designed several single-family homes in Udine and Campoformido, helped reconstruct Piazza dei Martiri di Cittadella in Padua, and created the Ciclopedonale bridge in Udine’s Rizzi district in 2006. He also designed a private clinic in Cussignacco. Cantarutti has worked with companies like Vibia, Fast, and Arrmet on industrial design projects, including chair collections such as the Forest and Niwa for Fast, and the Lachaise chair for ETA spa. He also designed lighting like the Samurai and Infinity lamps for Vibia. In 2016, he moved into hardware design with products for sun marquees (Domea and Qubica) and their remote control systems.
