"Live at the Ryman" is Marty Stuart's 15th album and it stands out because it is the only album he has released that features entirely live performances. Marty Stuart, feeling distraught after a disappointing tour, reluctantly performed a bluegrass show at the Ryman Auditorium. With little time to rehearse, the performers chose familiar songs and had a successful sold-out concert. Stuart was surprised to find out that the performance had been recorded, and it was later released as a live album. The musicians involved in the album "Live at the Ryman" include Marty Stuart on mandolin, acoustic guitar, and vocals, Kenny Vaughan on acoustic guitar and vocals, Harry Stinson on snare drum and vocals, Brian Glenn on bass guitar and vocals, Stuart Duncan on fiddle, Charlie Cushman on banjo, and Josh Graves on Dobro and vocals. Les Banks handled the recording, Harry Stinson took care of editing and mixing, and Jim DeMain was responsible for mastering the album. Maria-Elena Orbea was in charge of production coordination.
