Full Article on Wikipedia
The Bachelor of Vocation (B. Voc, BVE or BVEd) is a specialized degree that prepares graduates to become vocational teachers in public schools or trainers for private companies. Some universities offer similar degrees such as the Bachelor of Vocational Education and Training, or Bachelor of Career and Technical Education. These degrees are equivalent to the B. Voc or BVE. Additionally, many universities have specific bachelor's degrees in vocational education for various specialized fields such as agriculture, business, computer and IT, health occupations, marketing, and industrial arts. There are also degrees available for those interested in adult and continuing education. Vocational education has a long history, starting with masters and apprentices. As academic institutions recognized the importance of vocational education, there was a need to accredit vocational teachers within the traditional academic system. This led to the development of the Bachelor of Vocational Education and Training program in Australia, in response to the need for training and education for vocational educators. Most colleges in California that offer a Bachelor of Vocational Education degree require courses in areas such as education management, instruction, teaching diverse learners, and program evaluation. Additionally, students may be able to receive college credit for their vocational experience through a SWAN Portfolio. According to a study in Canada, 94% of B. Voc graduates were working in a field related to their degree, compared to 80% for all graduates with an undergraduate degree. B. Voc graduates also earned a higher average hourly wage than the general graduating population.
